Professional surveys and regional cooperation for clean oceans

In order to meet the urgent needs of current emerging pollution control and cooperation on complex issues, an interdisciplinary environmental consulting company was established.

The goal

IndigoWaters Institute, established in 2019, is dedicated to promoting a cleaner ocean through scientific surveys and regional cooperation. By prioritizing factual data and fostering resource connections, we strive to advance comprehensive management policies for marine debris. IndigoWaters specializes in monitoring the sources, distribution, hotspots, and temporal and spatial changes of plastic debris in various environments. We have collaborated with government sectors, academic institutions, junior high school students, and local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to conduct surveys of coastal debris, riverine debris, and sea bottom debris. With a team of over 40 passionate and enthusiastic surveyors, IndigoWaters is capable of conducting large-scale surveys and creating agile logistics throughout the country. The continuous monitoring data of coastal debris collected by IndigoWaters assists the Environment Protection Administration of Taiwan in prioritizing the most polluted coastlines that require clean-up. Moreover, after conducting coastal surveys and interviews with fishermen, IndigoWaters published two guidebooks to address abandoned, lost, and discarded fishing gear (ALDFG).
